Eager to Love: The Alternative Way of Francis of Assisi

published by Franciscan Media | Trade Paperback | 320 pages

Globally recognized as an ecumenical teacher, Richard Rohr started out—and remains—a Franciscan friar. The loving, inclusive life and preaching of Francis of Assisi make him a recognizable and beloved saint across many faith traditions. He was, as Rohr notes, “a master of ‘making room for it’ and letting go of that which was tired or empty.”   Francis found an “alternative way” to follow Jesus, one that disregarded power and privilege and held fast to the narrow path of the Gospel. Rohr helps us look beyond the birdbath image of the saint to remind us of the long tradition founded on his revolutionary, radical, and life-changing embrace of the teachings of Jesus. Excellent and Thoughtful

A beautiful and thoughtful work on St. Francis and the Alternative Orthodoxy. It will be read and re-read.

Truly Eager to Love

This book is incredible. I thought I had a decent grasp of Franciscan spirituality, but after reading this book, realized my original grasp was more akin to "birdbath" spirituality rather than real Franciscanism. I am blown away not only by the content but also by the way it is written, which is very clear and captivating. My heart was filled, and I was happy to see how personally connected I am to the wisdom and way of St. Francis. Thank you, Fr. Rohr, for this exceptional book! I am truly Eager to Love.

Eager to Love

Wow!! Wow!! It did not seem in the first couple of chapters that Richard wrote this book. But it is by far the best book he has written. Lots of love in those pages.
Richard makes it easy to love. Can only read a couple pages at a time then contemplate the rest of the day!!! God bless him.

Eager to Love: The Alternative Way of Francis of Assisi

A challenge to LOVE.

I am almost done! It is the beautiful story of Francis and Clare and their lives of love and simplicity. It is truly a challenge for all of us to examine our own experience of loving and perhaps make some changes for the sake of loving others as well as Loving our God.
