During World War II, young Vincent Iezzi was at home with his grandmother in his Philadelphia neighborhood. Review of Coffee With Nonna

A moving, funny and poignant tribute to the author's Italian grandmother. This amazing woman watched over her grandchildren during WW II as the fathers were away at war and the mothers worked to keep their families afloat.

embrace your Nonnahood

I myself had my own Italian Nonna, and so relate to each short story about Vicenti's Nonna, I lost my copy and now I will turn 67 this year and have been a Nonna myself for the last 21 years as my oldest grandchild is in college. New grandchildren are being added even as I write, and one in particular that we babysit for as my son and daughter-in-law work. So re-reading I relate, and imitate, this dear Nonna!!!

Beautiful, heartwarming!!!

Nonna's stories are told through the grandson and are absolutely lovely! I bought all 3 books in the series ("Coffee With Nonna," "More Coffee with Nonna ," "Last Coffee with Nonna," and am now sharing the books with my family. They are truly delightful. I was sorry when the series ended!

Vincent M. Iezzi, who has followed in his grandmother's footsteps as a storyteller, retired from a career at the Philadelphia Inquirer/Daily News and is active in his parish. He is also a member of the Secular Franciscan Order (SFO) and he belongs to the Order of the Sons of Italy, the Knights of Columbus, and the St. Richard-St. Monica Prayer Community. He and his wife Mary Ann have two sons and eight grandchildren, all of whom enjoy his retelling of NonnaÂ’s stories.
