Who Does He Say You Are?: Women Transformed by Christ in the Gospels
In Who Does He Say You Are?, Catholic missionary and speaker Colleen Mitchell captures the confessions of twelve more women from the Gospels, and shows how their stories answer this crucial question of identity: “Who does he say you are?” Holding up Mary as the ultimate example of intimate, transforming union, Mitchell weaves together moving anecdotes of her own search for identity as a Catholic woman along with twelve accounts of women in Scripture that are at once fresh yet familiar. In so doing, Mitchell connects in a compelling and very personal way with the Scriptures, inspiring readers to “take up and read” in order to discover the answer to this all-important question for themselves.
Questions at the end of each chapter can easily be adapted for group study, or used for private journaling or quiet reflection.

Our weekly prayer group which reads and shares insights from spiritual books has found this book an excellent source for reflection and sharing. The format of short chapters followed by 4-5 questions for reflection lends itself beautifully to a small group of women seeking a deeper spirituality and more intimate relationship with the Lord. The subject matter of biblical women and the depth of the insights of the author certainly enhance the experience.
I had seen this author on Women of Grace. I remembered the title when this book was offered at $4.99 - I bought 15 - as Christmas gifts for the women in my life.
I started reading the book and knew I needed to strongly suggest to my faith sharing group that we had to read this book. I am so happy to write that as of this review we are now on Chapter Seven. Seven awesome women who have become my sisters in Christ - we are affected by each chapter, some more than others...just depending on the story and our journeys.
Christ does truly transform.
I could not put this book down. Every night before bed, I read one of the stories about the women of the Bible and prayed the prayer so beautifully written. I truly was inspired by them as well as the author's story of her life as a mom, missionary and disciple. Ironically, I started reading the book right after my daughter's baby died 3 days postpartum and I immediately connected with Colleen's telling of her loss. I found strength in the telling of her dark days as I tried to muscle through those dark days with my daughter. I am now on my second reading of the book and I highly recommend it to every woman.

This excellent book reflects on the encounters Jesus has with women in the Gospels. It creates a scenario where you can contemplate what Jesus may be saying to you and includes prayer starters for helpful contemplation. An online Book Study Group (WINE - Women in the New Evangelization) provides additional insights from author and other readers.
