Divine Encounter Human Understanding

I have always been a big fan of Father Dave and together with Deacon Ralph they provide an easily understandable explanation of scriptural passages without watering them down. Definitely worthwhile read.

On target

We need the message in this book of encountering Jesus throughout every day. Our walk with Jesus means having a relationship with Him, which can only be sustained by encountering Jesus in everything that we do. The authors did an excellent job of showing what our relationship with Jesus should look like. Thank you!!

Trust in God

Trust is my word in my centering prayer portion of my adoration hour and a half each Friday. This is where I try to be quiet, be present, and listen to God. I found this book helpful in doing that better. I am familiar with Fr. Pivonka from the first Sunday of the month program Faith and Reason from Franciscan University on EWTN but found Deacon Poyo's reflections equally compelling; in particular chapter 12 ion guiding me towards discipleship with Jesus.

Father Dave Pivonka, T.O.R., is well known to youth conference attendees from San Diego to Nova Scotia. He spends much of his time helping others come to know God’s love for them through his dynamic preaching, writings, CDs, and other spiritual outreaches. Father Dave has held several ministry positions at Franciscan University in Steubenville, Ohio, and is presently the director of Franciscan Pathways, an evangelistic preaching outreach of his Franciscan Community. He is the author of Hiking the Camino: 500 Miles with Jesus. Fr. Pivonka lives in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Deacon Ralph Poyo is the founder of New Evangelization Ministries, which exists to assist pastors in training their parish leadership in evangelization. A popular speaker, he travels extensively around the United States. Deacon Ralph is married to his high school sweetheart, Susan, and they have five daughters, and two granddaughters. The Poyos live in Steubenville, Ohio.
