From the continent of Africa come a wealth of saints and other inspirational people included in the Catholic tradition. Some are well-known, like Saints Augustine, a doctor of the church, and his mother, Monica, while others may be unknown to us, such as Blessed Daudi Okelo and Blessed Jildo Irwa, twentieth-century Ugandan martyrs. Regardless of popularity, each holy person included in African Saints, African Stories displays perseverance in faith and can inspire us all. Item# B16805

African Saints, African Stories

My knowledge of our African saints was sorely lacking. This book is the start of filling in the gaps. And my diocese has a parish named for St Josephine Bakhita - I know who she is now!

Great Anthology

I bought this book because I was looking for prayers and reflections around Charles Lwanga and was having trouble finding a stand alone book. It was wonderful to read about the lives of these saints and holy people; many of whom I knew nothing about beforehand. It's a great anthology and I plan on following up with some of the source material next.

African Saints African Stories

It was a good introduction to these saints. I would have enjoyed a more in depth history.

This book was inspired. I never heard in my ccd classes about African Saints. I would highly recommend it.
